These Cartoon Network character designs were also done about 3 1/2 years ago. The script called for some "disgruntled animators" who were working at an animation studio in this particular episode. The assignment was fun, however these designs were never used and did not appear in the show. By the way, the red pencil markings on the drawings are simply "registration marks" which indicate where the background would have been in relation to the characters. Enjoy!

Jeez, these are SO good. Great stuff Mark!
Thanks, Chris!
Heh, the title alone made me chuckle, when you consider how many artists/animators are complaining about today's media industry...
Good stuff, Mark 8-)
haha! really really great! love your shapes, lines and balance.
Awesome line work, as always.
When I first looked at the drawings (before reading the text) I thought they were all trying to stab themselves in the forehead.
This is great!! I like very much the last one, the "heavy metal animator" is in all the studios in the world! Saludos amigo!
If they didnt use any of these superb designs, what the "f" were they looking for?
Is the 4th guy down Pete Emslie?
Many thanks to all of you for your generous comments!
Hey Tony--No, that's not Pete Emslie, but the character was VERY LOOSELY based on a coworker.
I agree with everybody, great stuff and great blog!
