This is awesome! The pale yellow sky and all the rest of it are spot on. If you'd thrown some faux aging on top of this, you'd have had some Gold Key collectors scrambling to look this issue up in the price guide!
reg; Gruff, I admire his design, but a shame the Pacydums are replaced by dogs. There seems to be a vast amount of dog characters in the HB universe; having lesser-used species like Eeny, Meany and Schmoe (hippy, rhino and elephant respectively) makes a nice change, IMO.
Just an opinion all the same. All down to you in the end who/what you choose to use.
I agree with you about there being too many dogs in the cartoon universe...but don't worry, the Pachydums won't be away permanently. I know what you're saying, though. Yippee, Yappee and Yahooey were originally going to be moose, which would have been a nice change.
Thank you, James! I just created this comic book "cover" for fun, but there aren't any plans now for another book. Thanks also for the nice words regarding my fox and pig character designs!
Mark,...MAKE this book happen! Please! All you need to do is change "Gold" to "Goal" or something like that and go with it!!!! Since Gold Key and it's parent Whitman are gone,..you may very well be able to use the Gold Key name anyway!

Thanks Mark and Chris!
Didn't Harvey Eisenberg draw them when the comic was still 10 cents? :)
You're right, Yowp. I think 12 cents was as high as the price got when Eisenberg was supplying the art.
For a moment I really thought that these comic books were back and you got your own series. Its a wonderful cover.
Tony, I wish that Gold Key Comics would make a comeback! Glad you like the cover.
who's the dog in the backseat?
Hey Scott,
That's Gruff. He and two other dogs are filling in for the Pachydums. Hope all is well with you.
so did the pachydums get their own show?
Hey Scott,
No, they didn't get their own show...I just wanted to replace them with the dogs, who are essentially the same personalities, but in canine form.

Great stuff Mark! Lovin' that Gold Key retro look! So are Sid Sirloin and friends going to return again in the future? With another storybook maybe?
